In the case of designing for mobile devices-where the users’ context finds them operating their phones with their fingers, often with one hand-this philosophy is even more vital to follow. In the world of user experience design and related disciplines, the KISS principle borrows from such a scenario in that users who tend to lead busy lives will quickly abandon a complex design. If their products weren’t simple and easy to understand, they would not only cost lives but also quickly become obsolete in combat conditions and thus worthless. Must I persuade Him with my pleading?” But Chafer does not get into great theological discussions of context or Greek. In the Free Grace movement, we make it clear that if we define repentance as being sorry for your sins, this is not a requirement for receiving eternal life. The same thing can be said about theological concepts.
The point was that sometimes we describe things in a way that is too complicated.
If we were explaining a concept to another person, especially if that person was new to the military, we would say we needed to “keep it simple, stupid.” We called it the KISS principle. When I was in the military, there was a phrase that we used time and time again.
